Anmarie Barrie
Eufaula, AL

Anmarie Barrie died on Sunday, July 27, 2014 in Eufaula, Alabama. The daughter of the late Joseph Peter Barrie and Ann Kasper Barrie, she was born on July 30, 1959 in Kearny. She attended and received degrees from Fairleigh Dickinson University; Monmouth University and Seton Hall University where she received a law degree. After law school, she worked as a law clerk for a local judge and then opened her own law practice specializing in real estate law. In 2000, Anmarie met her future husband, Terry Honan. They were married in 2001 and shortly thereafter moved to Eufaula, Alabama where Anmarie practiced law and sold real estate. Even though Eufaula was very different from living on the Jersey Shore where she had spent her entire life up to that point, Anmarie embraced Eufaula. She loved the history, the architecture, the culture and the people and she made many new friends. She was a volunteer reader at the primary school, a member of Class Two of Leadership Barbour and a Goodwill Ambassador for the Chamber of Commerce. She joined the Lanier Club and served as its Secretary and President. For many years she hosted a weekly book club at her home with a group of good friends. She was a supporter of the Boy Scouts and attended many Scouting functions around the country with her husband. She loved her husband’s circa 1868 family home, The Petry-Honan Home, where they lived and where she had actively participated in the complete restoration of the house and grounds. She was an enthusiastic supporter of the Eufaula Pilgrimage Tour of Homes and graciously opened her home each year for the tour.

Survivors include husband, Terry Honan; step-son, Mathew Honan (Harper) of San Francisco, CA; granddaughters, Bird Honan and Pearl Honan; sisters, Donna Kelly (Larry) of Oceanport, NJ and Joy Barrie of Neptune City, NJ; and brother, Chris Barrie (Mary Jane) of West Columbia, SC, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Anmarie Barrie Honan Scholarship Fund, Eufaula Heritage Association, 340 North Eufaula Avenue, Eufaula, AL 36027.
